Living forever digitally has become a new reality. Online immortality is pushing us towards self optimisation.

Optimise and Rise is a reference to the arcade where modernity was first seen through glass (Walter Benjamin, Passage des Panoramas) These images look at the present in the same way, a panoramic overview of the present, artefacts on display- already archive, already relic, already distant, already collectible, almost a ruin, arranged behind a screen.

DIGITAL ENDS & CHANGE OF STATUS

HOW DO DEVICES DETACH WHEN THEIR USERS ARE NO LONGER CONNECTED? 

Technologies brought us new orders and behaviours. Once devices meet and merge, they orchestrate a choreographic system of movement, sound and image.  A new fraction of reality emerges- with that a new relationship that goes beyond the device users, but within the devices itself.

Digital permanence and emotional haunting. Everything we ever typed, saved or sent, exists somewhere online. 
The digital footprint comes to haunt us. 

Recurring contacts become uninvited guests. How long does it take for a device to lose familiarity with a place, a face, a profile? For an algorithm to stop suggesting things that once meant home?

The digital era has brought us new ways of wounding. Emotional terror just one click away from recollecting feelings on a loop followed by sequences of internal monologues, until time, the only remaining analogue tool, brings its balsam to the turmoil.

BERLINER ZEITUNG WE 

Art Direction
I was the art director of the Berliner Zeitung’s weekend edition, a Berlin based newspaper. 

Co-leading the art department, driving the visual direction of each issue from concept to print.

Working alongside the editorial team, reporting directly to the editor in chief,

My tasks included team management, concept development for covers and article imagery, design, illustration, talent commissioning and budget management.

Visual assets for Zalando Stories segment Tried &Tested, where writers try and test products.

The proposal was to have a tactile interpretation inspired by the spirit of research. Personal exploration come with hits and misses, hours of work and personal notes showcasing the journey of trial and error.

Worked as a set designer as a parallel practice. During these years I had the opportunity to engage with the creation process from the production side and tap into craft and spacial skills.

01. On going series of collected objects to rework and repurpose.
Ceramic, acrylic, acrilyc paint. 
02. Conceived for the food issue of Fuckying Young Magazine it a functions as a gathering piece. The table features a hole in the center for the fire to come throught and let the ingredients to cook. Build with leftover materials from the local workshop.

03. Re worked chair frame found in the streets of Berlin. Material choice based on algorithm trends and an observation on the homogenised view of materials.
